All of our animals have been rescued from less-than-ideal circumstances. In the spirit of moving forward and having fun, we have slightly tweaked the back stories of our Stars. Enjoy!
The Goats
Theodore
Theodore was one of our original rescues in 2015. He is a 9-year-old Nubian mix who enjoys sunning himself on the mini-barn roof, playful tomfoolery, and carefully holding on to his last remaining lower incisor.

Bennie
Bennie came to us (with his gal pal, Birdie) in 2016. He is an 8-year-old Alpine mix who enjoys goat yoga, fine salmonberry leaf cuisine, and dancing in the moonlight. When Bennie arrived, he was wearing only electric boots and a mohair suit left over from his wildly unsuccessful stage career.

Minnie Riperton
Minnie came to us as a package deal with Hamilton, Joe Frank, and Reynolds. She is a Pygmy goat mix who loves the attention of being the only babe in the barn. She was found living downtown, driving all the old men crazy.

These 2-year-old Nigerian Dwarf mixes have plenty of spunk, spirit, and vigor. They were rescued from a second-rate ’70s county fair musical tour where they played their lone hits, “Don’t Pull Your Love” and “Fallin’ In Love.”

Hall & Oates
Hall and Oates were out of touch, tied up without water in a shipping container in Arlington. They said, “We can’t go for that”, learned how to untie knots and, one on one, made their way to Barn Stars. When we heard their story, we knew we couldn’t go for that and subsequently made their dreams come true.

Joe was rescued from an illegal cock-fighting ring. (Really!) He likely was too young at the time to have actually fought, but now he preaches love and peace in the barn, living in harmony with the goats — but still uses his fighting skills to protect his buddy, Ichabod, from the alpha goats. He reminds us of his ominous presence every morning at about 5 am!

Madame Buttercup
The head chicken in the brothel, Madame Buttercup oversees the laying of the eggs and meeting of the egg quotas and deadlines. She is a Sicilian Buttercup who was a mob informant and is now in the Chicken Protection Program. Or at least she was …

Barbara is an Ameraucana who loves hunting potato bugs and lounging in the sun on her swing set. Barbara came from Miami, F.L.A., hitchhiked her way across the U.S.A., plucked her feathers on the way, and showed up on a sunny day.

Esmerelda is a Fawn & White Indian Runner Duck who was secretly smuggled to our farm from our southern border after being forced to be an Oregon Duck. After realizing that she is truly a Cougar/Husky mix, Esmerelda decided she was leaving (leaving) on the Midnight Train to Maltby to find a simpler place and time.

Amador (left) & Apolo were our first residents who came with the farm when we bought it in 2014. They were the leaders of the pack and the defenders of the barn. They truly inspired the idea of Barn Stars. They both lived carefree lives on the farm and passed at the ages of 13 (Apolo) and 16 (Amador).

Our OG (original goat) and mother of Theodore. She made us sing like a guitar hummin’.
Staff Stars
Hazel (dog) & Freddie (cat), Farm Security
Hazel and Freddie are the latest security team here at Barn Stars. When they aren’t sleeping in, taking their MANY union breaks, or simply eating their own feet, these two are using the remaining hour of their day to keep a diligent watch for predators, safety violations, or the dreaded FedEx driver. They are both graduates of the acclaimed Inspector Clouseau Academy. We are privileged to have them on our team!
